PARTNER Montemarcello–Magra Park manages the protected area called "Montemarcello-Magra Regional Natural Park ". It was founded in 1995 and now has legal personality, administrative and functional autonomy. Among its main objectives there are: a) the protection and the preservation of the environmental, archaeological and historical characteristics of the protected area; b) the reconstruction and safeguard of riparian ecosystems of fluvial and terrestrial areas; c) the conservation and protection of the natural biodiversity, coordinating environmental programs connected to Magra and Vara Rivers, increasing scientific knowledge of their ecosystems. The Park is promoter of a project representing the first example of "administrative district of large area” certification in Europe.
